Safety is a major preoccupation at Lucas. Our people are our most valuable asset and the board and management are committed to striving for the safest possible working conditions for every employee and subcontractor.

To help monitor our performance and to encourage continued improvement, we have gained independent certification of our safety systems with BVQI (detailed below). We've also gone well beyond our statutory reporting requirements, starting with the 2006-07 financial year, by detailing every individual lost-time or medical treatment injury across the group. Safety certifications

Effective 26 August 2005, AJ Lucas Group Limited and Lucas Stuart Pty Limited
are certified by BVQI to comply with the following standards.

Occupational health & safety management systems: AS/NZS 4801:2001

AS/NZS 4801:2001 specifies an occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) for formulating policy and objectives based on legislative requirements and information about hazards or risks. It applies to hazards or risks which the organisation has control or influence over.

Occupational health & safety: OHSAS 18001:1999  

An international standard giving requirements related to health and safety management systems to enable an organisation to control its risks and improve its performance.

NSW Government

On 30  March 2005 the NSW Government OHS Management system 4th edition accreditation was granted for AJ Lucas Group Limited.
