Allan acquired a controlling interest in Lucas in 1995 following a successful career in investment banking and commerce including property, construction and building materials.

Since acquiring his shareholding, he has been responsible for Lucas' strategic direction and has established its position as the leading outsourced provider of infrastructure services in Australia.

CEO, LUCAS OPERATIONS
Mike joined Lucas in 2007 bringing 25 years local and international experience across the engineering infrastructure and property development industries to the company, specialising in business turnaround and re-engineering.

Prior to Lucas, he worked in senior roles at Leighton Holdings and Leighton Contractors for six years, developing and implementing major corporate change projects. He spent five years with Australian Water Services as CEO of AWS and New Zealand Water Services. This followed over a decade in project engineering and management in Australia and the UK.

Mike has a proven record in building business operations, producing positive returns and with sustainable, long-term prospects through quick assessment and interpretation, clear analysis and planning and hands-on problem solving skills.

He was appointed CEO of Lucas Operations in November 2008.


Ian Redfern BAppSc (QS)
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
A tertiary-qualified construction professional, Ian has been involved in the construction industry for nearly 30 years, holding senior executive positions in a number of medium to large construction companies.
As COO, Ian has overall responsibility for all of Lucas operations.

Mark Summergreene BEc (Accounting)
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Mark joined Lucas in 2004. His experience spans 25 years in senior financial management roles in Australia and Japan for multinational design, project management and manufacturing companies. As CFO, Mark is responsible for the group's internal and external financial reporting, management of finance and IT, ensuring control and reporting systems are timely and accurate.

CHIEF STRATEGIC OFFICER, LUCAS MITCHELL DRILLING
Mark Tonkin joined Lucas in 1997 after completing an economics degree at the Australian National University. He has been closely involved in the group's business development, corporate affairs and marketing as well as managing the company's HDD and coal seam gas divisions.
Mark has been a major contributor to the successful listing of the company on the ASX; research, development and establishment of the telecommunications division; successful tenders for a number of major contracts; and oversight of the group's annual reports, web site, broker presentations and other marketing activities.

With the acquisition of Mitchell Drilling he was appointed chief strategic officer of Lucas Mitchell Drilling in 2008.

Kevin Lester BE (Civil)
GENERAL MANAGER PIPELINES
Kevin joined Lucas as a project manager soon after graduating. He has been responsible for over 50 major projects as project manager, operations manager and general manager. These have included major pipelines for gas, water and petroleum products, civil and tank farm projects, and a diverse range of directional drilling and hydrostatic testing projects.
As well as being Lucas' general manager pipelines, Kevin has had key roles in many major projects, including:

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER, LUCAS MITCHELL DRILLING
Brett joined Lucas in July 2000 as drilling operations manager after 13 years with BHP and Rio Tinto Coal in a range of operational and project management roles.
Since joining Lucas he has been responsible for estimating, planning and implementation of both surface to inseam (SIS) and underground (UIS) gas drainage and exploration projects. He has been operations manager for Pohokura landfall, Arrow Energy, Anglo, drilling and project manager at Xstrata Coal at Oaky Creek.
He became general manager of the drilling division in 2006, and chief operations officer of the enlarged Lucas Mitchell Drilling after Lucas' acquisition of Mitchell Drilling in 2008.

Brian Burden BSc (Building Construction)
GENERAL MANAGER, LUCAS STUART
Brian gained experience in large-scale construction with TC Whittle, as quantity surveyor on NSW Parliament House, assistant to Woolworth's property director and as chief estimator of Stuart Bros. He has worked as project manager and estimator on projects up to $85 million in value and oversaw all estimating for Lucas Stuart, our construction division until becoming general manager of the division in 2007.

Paul Bilston BMechEng PhD
GENERAL MANAGER – LUCAS ENERGY
Paul has worked across all aspects of the energy sector over 17 years. Before joining Lucas in 2006 he worked in senior management roles in AGL, GHD and Worley.
Paul has developed commercial and technical expertise in commercial project development, coal seam methane exploration and the design of gas processing & compression facilities and high pressure pipelines.
As general manager of Lucas Energy, Paul is responsible for the exploration and commercial development of the Gloucester Basin (100 km nth of Newcastle) and a growing portfolio of other assets in Australia and overseas.

Michael Arbon BE (Civil) MIEA CP Eng
GENERAL MANAGER WATER & WASTEWATER
Michael brings extensive experience in water and wastewater to Lucas. He has worked as a consultant with Evans & Peck working on assignments for Alinta and the Department of Sustainability and Environment, as project director for water recycling with Melbourne Water and with T-Squared, TXU Australia and Enetech.

Tim Overland BComm
GENERAL MANAGER BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Joining Lucas in 2008, Tim has extensive experience in management accounting, systems implementation, change management, business unit management and business development from senior roles with BOC and Transfield Services. His appointment recognises the need to sustain the company’s impressive record in winning new business.

David Dick-Smith BE (Civil)
GENERAL MANAGER MAJOR PROJECTS
David has over 35 years’ experience in the construction management of major infrastructure and defence projects encompassing BOOT, BOO, design and construct, turnkey and alliance contracts.
These include Mt Piper Power Station water supply and treatment plant; Macarthur Water Treatment Plant; Parliament House, Canberra; Pier Cairns hotel, retail and marina; Paradise Palms golf course and club house, Cairns; ten bridges in Cambodia; upgrade of the M113 armoured personnel carriers for the Department of Defence; railway infrastructure including the Strathfield signal box project and refurbishment of Sydney’s Town Hall station.

Michael McDermott Adv. Dip. Drilling Mgt
MANAGING DIRECTOR, MCDERMOTT DRILLING
Michael McDermott has been in the drilling Industry since 1963.In 1970 he established McDermott Drilling in Sydney, growing it to the state's largest drilling company over the next 36 years.
Lucas acquired McDermott Drilling in 2006, retaining Michael as managing director, playing a key role in integrating McDermott's with the rest of the Lucas drilling business.He is a director on the boards of the Australian Drilling Industry Association (A.D.I.A.), Australian Drilling Industry Training Committee (A.D.I.T.C.) and is the director representing the drilling sector on the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Skills Council (R.I.I.S.C.)

Cameron Wright
MANAGER QLD SURFACE OPERATIONS
Cameron is general manager of the Capricorn Weston Drilling Group, which was acquired by Lucas in 2007 to increase the company's presence and capacity in Queensland.
He has over ten years' drilling experience, since joining Weston Drilling as a drill assistant in 1996, and has a strong record of effective management of major drilling projects.

Kerry Brydon Adv. Dip. Drilling Mgt
GENERAL MANAGER, McDERMOTT DRILLING
Kerry joined McDermott Drilling in 1978 as a driller’s offsider and worked through the ranks through operations manager to general manager.
He is also a member of the Resource & Infrastructure Industry Skills Council (RIISC) Steering Committee that reviews the drilling sector competency requirements.

Stephen Loneragan BSc
GENERAL MANAGER TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGY
Stephen originally joined Lucas as a site manager in 1993 after working in the offshore marine construction industry. He rejoined in 1997 after two years as East coast operations manager with Surtron Technologies, a company specialising in geophysical logging, downhole surveying and directional drilling services. Since 1997 he has designed and directed the majority of HDD projects for Lucas including several world records. He now manages all Lucas directional drilling operations.
Stephen is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and is a driving force behind advancing engineering development within the HDD industry. He has successfully conceived and developed new downhole tooling which has now been patented and is used exclusively by Lucas around the world.

Ben Cooper BEng (Civil & Env)
BID MANAGER, PIPELINES
Ben originally joined the AJ Lucas Group in 1999 and after a short stint away rejoined in 2004 gaining broad experience in project management of gas, water and sewer projects around Australia.
His roles have included project management, procurement, management of contractors, quality assurance, safety and environmental management, cost control and reporting, contract and client management.
Ben's current role includes estimating for HDD and pipeline projects, undertaking feasibility studies, project management and project procurement.

Mark Ainsworth  BBldg
ESTIMATING AND COST PLANNING
Mark has more than 25 years' experience with government, consultants and leading private companies in estimating, cost planning, quantity surveying and leading bid teams on major commercial projects in Australia and the United Kingdom. His thorough understanding of the construction process enables him to assess building methods/materials and develop accurate costings from a conceptual brief.
He's been a major contributor to Lucas' current strength in estimating, quantity surveying and cost planning.

Brett Kuhnert
MANAGER, COAL SEAM GAS QLD
Brett joined Lucas in 2000 as a driller bringing 10 years of broad extensive experience in the directional drilling industry with AC Drilling. Since joining Lucas, he has had the responsibility of project superintendent and trouble shooter. Brett is currently the drilling supervisor at the Moranbah Gas Project for Arrow Energy and Oaky Creek Coal for Xstrata.  He was drilling supervisor at Oaky Creek Coal, coordinating the drilling of the largest mine gas management contract awarded in Australia – 40,000 metres plus.  He was also involved in the SIS - Oaky Creek Gas Drainage Program at Oaky Creek North and Oaky Creek No.1 from Feb 2003 to July 2003.
He has completed a TAFE Accredited Supervisors Course (S1,S2,S3(QLD) 2003 and holds an IADC Supervisory BOP Well Control Certificate.

Doug Henderson
OPERATIONS MANAGER DIRECTIONAL SERVICES
Doug has extensive experience in directional drilling guidance techniques and systems, electronic systems, design installation, fault diagnosis and repair, marketing and sales, operations, R&D. His knowledge spans drilling operational systems, satellite systems, telecommunications, electrical, industrial products, and computer services.
Doug has managed the drilling services division of Lucas since 1995, supervising the engineering team who design, survey and steer directional drilling project boreholes for Lucas operations. He is currently overseeing significant upgrades to engineering capability and operational support mechanisms for the division's continuing growth.

Todd Herbert
OPERATIONS MANAGER UNDERGROUND
Todd has worked in underground drilling since 1994, starting as an underground driller for Strata Drilling then as underground directional driller, supervisor and ultimately NSW manager for Valley Longwall.
Todd joined Lucas in 2000 as general manager of Lucas Coal Technologies until 2003.  He re-joined Lucas in 2005 as underground operations manager, responsible for estimating, planning and implementation of both surface to in-seam (SIS) and underground (UIS) gas drainage and exploration projects.

Walter Chiari, Lucas hydrotesting managerWalter Chiari
HYDROTESTING MANAGER
Walter has over 28 years of oil and gas pipeline experience around the world: South America, South-East Asia, the Arab Emirates, Europe, the North Sea and both on and offshore in Australia for Woodside, Santos and Origin Energy among others.

Since joining Lucas as hydrotesting manager he has been responsible for testing of the Goro fresh water pipeline in New Caledonia and the Eastern Pipeline (part of Queensland's Western Corridor Recycled Water Project). He is the company's accredited signatory and representative to NATA (the National Association of Testing Authorities), and is responsible for estimating, scheduling and oversight of the final testing of all Lucas' pipeline work.
