Adding an invisible new floor

Royal Sydney Golf Club presented us with this challenge: to nearly double the floor area of the 80-year old clubhouse by adding a new below-ground service floor. And while this went on, the club had to continue to operate.

The $11 million project included restoration of much of the building's interior, a new entrance, complete new kitchens, substantial alterations to the dining and function rooms and a refit of the golf storage and golf shop areas. The building's services were also overhauled with four new lifts, new air handling and extensive rewiring.
